Welcome to Check the Bag!
A space to share my travels, destination dressing, and everything in-between. Spoiler alert: I don't pack light. Check the bag!
What You Can Expect
As a content creator and freelance writer, I am constantly crafting and sharing my thoughts, fashion, and adventures—it’s about time I have one easy place to share my musings. I aim to create travel guides and recaps that you can easily reference when planning or packing for your next trip.
Travel Guides
My most frequently asked questions revolve around my travel recommendations—whether you’re looking to hike through the Italian Dolomites or work remotely for an off-season in Mallorca, you can find my best tips for a lovely and logistically sound trip.
My travel guides will dive into the questions and places that I typically gatekeep (sorry and you’re welcome!). These guides are the result of countless hours of research and are an accurate representation of what I actually do on my trips.
When I travel, I strive to strike a balance between seeing the “best of” a new place and also dipping into a more localized experience. I’m a firm believer in waking up early to skip lines at tourist attractions and maximizing time through smart geographical planning. I also love leaving time to just wander around—I found many of my favorite shops, restaurants, and neighborhoods by accident!
Fashion Finds
As a fashion writer, half of the fun of traveling is choosing my outfits for a destination. I actually started my writing career back in college with the launch of my fashion blog “oh. by olivia”. If you read that blog, you’re a real one!
I love to fuse my personal style with pieces that thematically compliment a location. I’m a proud over-packer and typically pack an empty Samsonite duffel bag in my suitcase just in case I need extra room to bring purchases home.
My best shopping is done impulsively and in-person. Most of my “big ticket” purchases and treasured vintage pieces were found abroad. You can find what I’m eyeing, buying, and packing on this substack. And of course, where to shop and what to buy once you get to your destination!
Home Life
When I’m not trying to up my United Airlines mileage status (I’m loyal), you can find me hanging out in my apartment with my two cats in Hoboken, New Jersey or bopping around New York City.
My apartment is an extension of my personal style. Every. single. wall. is covered in art I’ve acquired from my travels or vintage pieces from local small businesses. I want to feel just as inspired sitting in my living room as I do at a sidewalk cafe in Paris (or at least close!). I’m so excited to share pieces of my home life with you!
I’ve loved your IG for a while! Can’t wait for this! 🙌
