The Ultimate Mother + Daughter Gift Guide
To: Anyone on your list! From: Your fav mother-daughter duo!
I’ve always had an unfair advantage in holiday shopping for my mom and sister. The three of us have similar preferences when it comes to clothing, skincare products, and home decor—anything I’d buy for myself, I can assume the other ladies in my family would also love. Growing up, the three of us would frequently steal things from each other’s closets (sorry Mom!) but since we now all live in different time zones, it’s easy to justify buying duplicates.
My mom may be a professional influencer but she has been influencing my style long before the TikTok app ever existed. She always knows the perfect hostess gift for the neighbor, what to send her long-distance bestie, and most importantly, what to buy me!
Whether you’re shopping for your mom, friend, daughter, sister, or significant other, you can count on our mother-daughter-approved gifts to make an impression. My mom and I have put together a guide of our favorite products this season.
These are pieces that we’ve already bought and loved (like the Sézane trench or J.Crew Cotton Pajamas) or pieces we have on our own wishlists (hello, Celine beanie and William Sonoma Mixer).
When it comes to purchasing beauty products, having a specific (and approved) item to buy is the way to go. Everyone’s preferences when it comes to blush shade, moisturizer texture, and active serum ingredients are individualized. It may be tempting to buy something last-minute from the check-out line display at Sephora but a little investigating will ensure that your gift actually gets used.
Olivia’s Beauty Gift List:

O: I’m very realistic with my beauty products and prefer an item I’ll use over and over again over something special or sparkly. My go-to brands right now for skincare are Caudalíe, Summer Fridays, and Kiehl’s. I was thinking about adding a Dyson Airwrap to my list but was won over by the Bondi Boost infrared brush (for a fraction of the price!).
Lynette’s Beauty Gift List:

L: I typically opt for very light makeup so I focus a lot of my energy in the skincare department! The Skin Gym massage sticks and Current Body LED mask ensure that my skin is prepped to look tight and even. My bathroom is always fully stocked with Elemis and Caudalíe—brands that both work with my sensitive rosacea-prone skin. If you want to give your mom something gorgeous to unwrap, you can’t go wrong with Lover perfume by The Maker.
Unwrapping a new sweater, jacket, or pair of boots is truly an exhilarating feeling. Wearing a new handbag or jacket over Christmas PJs around the house is now an old tradition in the Marcus household. Our wishlists have always leaned heavy in the fashion/jewelry department. When it comes to fashion pieces, my mom and I both prefer unwrapping one high-value item over multiple pieces.
Olivia’s Fashion Gift List:

O: I’ll admit, most of my fashion wishlist is stuff that I already own or purchased after adding to my own wishlist (oops!). The Freda Salavador slippers have already brought me, and my feet, lots of joy this winter—and I can guarantee you my mom wants them too now! If you’re looking for a customized gift, I highly recommend customizing a hand-embroidered tote from Call It By Your Name. I’ve carried my tote for years and the quality is amazing and I always get tons of compliments!
Lynette’s Fashion Gift List:

L: As a PNW resident, I have to add an extra layer of realism to my fashion picks. Chances are high that my outfit will endure rain and gloomy skies so brands like Canada Goose, Beyond Yoga, and Blundstone are great picks for my environment. I want my outfits to be functional but I obviously also want them to be cute! These are all staples in my wardrobe and are things you, your mom, or your daughter would love!
The very best gift-givers find an item that is so good, that the receiver didn’t think of it themselves. The “other” category of our gift guide focuses on “wants” rather than “needs”. These are items we would personally love to receive—they add aesthetic-induced joy into our daily lives and cover all price ranges.
Olivia’s Other Gift List:

O: Even just looking at this curation of gifts makes me happy. Customized pieces, cozy slippers, and a really fabulous lamp are all ways to enhance everyday moments. I’ve become obsessed with anything monogrammed this past year and love that it shows an extra step of effort when giving a gift. A cheetah robe, Nespresso latte, cute mug, sparkly claw clip, and Mou slippers are all key ingredients to my favorite type of morning.
Lynette’s Other Gift List:

L: I’m not a regular mom—I’m a cool mom! I still love a classic “mom” type of present like a Le Creuset Dutch Oven but I also like to get creative. I discovered this latte dust last year and promptly bought a bottle for each of my friends. It’s a delicious, affordable, and thoughtful gift for a fellow caffeine connoisseur. And keeping with the food and beverage theme, my latest addiction is gourmet licorice. I sent a big box to Olivia’s apartment and confirm that she also approves of this gift idea.
